sanitary confinement

so... funny thing.

I'm at a client site and we go get lunch to eat at our desk. We get back to the office and J (the client) puts down her lunch, opens her bag (purse for you US lot) and gets out a bottle of sanitizer. She puts some in one hand, rubs both hands around and then puts the bottle in front of me. Of course while all this has taken place, I've downed half my salad, opened my coke (soda for the Americans) and got halfway to fixing her laptop at the same time. "oops" I think - v bad protocol. Not only did I not sanitize myself before eating but I've put all my germs (and potential crumbs) all over her laptop. This bottle then stares at me for the rest of my meal until she finishes, picks it up again and re-sanitizes.

Geez people - some germs are good!

I was reminded of the time I first came to America for a volunteering holiday so many moons ago. There was a whole load of Europeans and 2 Americans. All the Europeans would share their drinks so that we didn't open too many cans. Well - you should have seen the looks the Americans gave us! They thought we were mental! If you don't introduce some germs to your system - how do you think you'll be able to fight infection!

I fed my brother soil from the garden when we were younger (told him it was food...oh the power I used to have!) - and he's alright - even stopped eating the worms in recent years.... ;-)
